What Is Fitness?
CrossFit recognizes 10 general physical skills that must be trained or practiced in order to be fit: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. At CrossFit GBAR3 the focus of our programming is to improve your competence in all 10 of these areas so you can be successful performing daily tasks.
Flexibility
Flexibility is the range of motion of bones and accompanying muscles around a joint. We coach the execution of exercises with a full ROM in order to maximize gains in strength by increasing the engagement of the muscles. The more flexible you are in a certain joint, the more you will activate the corresponding muscle groups by working with a large ROM and more efficiently improve strength in that part of the body. If there’s a particular part on our body (such as a shoulder) where we lack flexibility due to injuries or other reasons; practicing full ROM movements can help increase engagement with those specific muscle groups leading to improved performance.
