CrossFit GBAR3: What’s In A Name?
This month marks our 10 year anniversary â GBAR3 affiliated and opened up our original Grant Rd location on November, 2012. For those of you who ever wondered why we are named GBAR3 here’s the scoop:
Goins Garage Gym [G3] began in our garage at home in mid 2011. Later that year we decided to make it official by formally affiliating with CrossFit HQ and moving to a bigger space. Our first name selection “G3 CrossFit” was denied for what we assumed was copyright infringement so we had to come up with another name.
Going for a Texas theme we came up with a cattle brand idea “G-bar-3” which also vibed with the idea of hanging out at “The Bar” with your friends AND what is essentially the bread and butter of CrossFit: the BARbell! And, it still is and always will be our beloved Goins Garage Gym! However you want to spell it: GBAR3, gbar3, Gbar3, G-bar-3 … it’s our own unique slice of the fascinating culture of building a strong, supportive, accountable community of people who put in the work and get the results, every day.
This Friday, November 18 We Are Celebrating Our 10 Year Milestone!
Everyone is invited!!! The party starts at 4 pm. Come ready to play pickleball, cornhole, hula-hooping, and to participate in a NERF GUN BIATHLON! We’ll have lots of BBQ and a CAKE! Please bring along a side dish to share with a crowd!
